Gloucester Haiku Project

As part of our grand opening, we launched the Gloucester Haiku Project as a way to get community members and visitors involved in a fun literary project. The idea is simple: we collect Gloucester-centric haiku all summer and then collect the best into a unique volume that will be available only in our shop.

How to Participate

Simply, write a haiku about Gloucester, MA and submit it to us on or before August 31, either in person at the shop (261 Main Street) or via our online submission manager. You do not have to be a resident of Gloucester, MA to participate, merely inspired to write a three-line poem (or two) about the place itself. Please include your name, mailing address, and email address on all poems. You do not have to be a published writer to participate in this project. If you want some guidance on writing haiku, we suggest the book One Continuous Mistake: Four Noble Truths for Writers by Gail Sher.

If you have questions, send us an email with "GHP Question" in the subject line. Please do not submit haiku via email.
